description Esta ponencia estudia la relación entre el renacimiento confuciano y la capacidad de subsistencia del sistema westfaliano, es decir, el sistema actual de relaciones internacionales. El equilibrio de poderes, los principios del derecho internacional público y la estructura de poder desconcentrada son elementos que limitan la preponderancia estatal sobre el sistema internacional, impiden el control monopólico del sistema y evitan volver a un sistema supranacional, como el sistema medieval europeo o el sistema tributario chino. Estos elementos componentes del sistema limitan el ascenso internacional de China y la posibilidad de que los principios confucianos suplanten los principios de Westfalia, aunque el confucianismo y China tienen capacidades suficientes para enriquecer los principios del sistema internacional. Por lo tanto, hay tres preguntas de investigación que deberían responderse en este documento: 1) ¿China propone hoy estos principios? 2) ¿Es suficiente la acción única de una gran potencia para cambiar los principios del sistema internacional? 3) ¿Cuál es la capacidad de resistencia del sistema internacional frente a los países que proponen cambiar sus principios? En realidad, la paz en el mundo depende de cómo pueden responderse estas preguntas y, para ello, este documento ofrece una breve y básica introducción al renacimiento confuciano y su relación con el sistema internacional.
