Lyman alfa and excitation mechanism

Lyman alfa of hydrogen results to be the best indicator of the excitation mechanism operating in gaseous nebula. Also the interstellar absorption by gas and dust has been included. Recent observations with space probes may imply that also for interstellar gas collisional excitations is important.
