Organic nitrogen sources were the most favourable for growth and cellulase production. Increasing nitrogen concentrations also increased cellulase production. Among carbon sources, crystalline cellulose, cellobiose and a mixture of carboxymethylcellulose and cellobiose induced maximal endoglucanase production.
