The genus thecotheus in Argentina

Thecotheus pelletieri, T. cinereus and T. crustaceus are described and illustrated, with special remarks on cultural features and the development of conidial forms. This is the first record for Argentina and probably also for South America. The entire life-cycle from ascospore to ascospore was recon...

Anamorphs Argentina Pezizales Taxonomy Thecotheus Thecotheus pelletieri, T. cinereus and T. crustaceus are described and illustrated, with special remarks on cultural features and the development of conidial forms. This is the first record for Argentina and probably also for South America. The entire life-cycle from ascospore to ascospore was reconstructed in vitro for the three species. Sporothrix-like anamorphs producing holoblastic (botryose) conidia were found for T. pelletieri and T. crustaceus. Thecotheus pelletieri and T. cinereus are undoubtedly homothallic species, whereas T. crustaceus appears to be heterothallic.
