This is the first record for Argentina and probably also for South America. The entire life-cycle from ascospore to ascospore was reconstructed in vitro for the three species. Sporothrix-like anamorphs producing holoblastic (botryose) conidia were found for T. pelletieri and T. crustaceus. Thecotheus pelletieri and T. cinereus are undoubtedly homothallic species, whereas T. crustaceus appears to be heterothallic.
