Some substituted thiourea complexes of nickel (II) thiocyanate

The preparation and properties of complexes of the type Ni(NCS)22L (L = thiourea (TU) N-methylthiourea (MTU), N,N′-dimethylthiourea (DMTU), N,N′-ethylenethiourea (ETU), N-ethylthiourea (NETU), N-phenylthiourea (PTU) and N,N′-dicyclohexylthiourea) and Ni(NSC)24L [L = N,N′-ethylenethiourea, N-phenylth...

The Ni(NCS)22L complexes have polymeric structures involving either thiourea ligand bridges (L = TU, MTU, DMTU, NETU, and PTU) or thiocyanato bridges (L = ETU and DCTU). The Ni(NCS)24L complexes have octahedral structures. In solution, all the complexes undergo considerable rearrangement retaining coordinated anion. The configuration of the complexes were deduced from their spectral, magnetic and conductance data. The factors determining the stereochemical arrangements in these complexes are discussed. © 1967.
