Analysis of water resources in the framework of social risk theory. Impact of dams on the Argentine coast

The objective of the paper is to analyze the characteristics and implications of the risks that stem from the diffusion of the irrigated rice crop in the basin of the Miriñay River in Corrientes, focusing on the competition for water resources. From the perspective of environmental risk, four compon...

From the perspective of environmental risk, four components have been identified a) the danger of hydric deficit that five sub-basins present due to the increased demand of water for irrigation, b) the exhibit was quantified as a result of a comparative study of the changes in the use of the soil in the (5) five areas around the basin registering an increase of 62% of the seeded surface with rice in a heterogeneous area where fourteen (14) landscapes were identified c) to measure vulnerability, data from the 2002 census was used identifying two agricultural productive systems, agro-livestock and livestock, and d) the uncertainty. The agricultural lands related to different productive systems present structural and different socioeconomics characteristics, which are able to highlight the significant concentration of land, water and capital factors. The absence of hydrological studies within the institutional framework that would allow for knowledge of the supply and the demand of each basin; the lack of technical and managerial training and the operational limitations of the state make the organization difficult for the different subsystems that interact. 2008 https://bibliotecadigital.exactas.uba.ar/collection/paper/document/paper_13160354_v13_n26_p89_Pagliettini http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12110/paper_13160354_v13_n26_p89_Pagliettini
