Administration of volatile anaesthetics to animals treated with cobalt as inductor of heme oxygenase

The effect of anaesthesia with Enflurane or Isoflurane (a single dose of 1 ml/kg, i.p.) administered to animals treated 24 hours before with cobaltous chloride (a single dose of 125 μmol/kg, i.p.), a known inductor of Heme-ox, was investigated. The expected induction of Heme-ox (285%) produced by Co...

The expected induction of Heme-ox (285%) produced by Co administration was abolished by anaesthesia. A 45% reduction of blood Porphobilinogenase and Deaminase activities was found after treatment with Co and Isoflurane, reproducing in these animals the biochemical signs of acute porphyria. The regulation of heme pathway and the involvement of the metabolizing drug enzyme system was also studied. 2000 https://bibliotecadigital.exactas.uba.ar/collection/paper/document/paper_10288945_v11_n1_p39_Buzaleh http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12110/paper_10288945_v11_n1_p39_Buzaleh
