Drying kinetics of corn in contact with a solid adsorbent

This paper reports corn drying experiments using commercially available sodium bentonite clay. The sorption isotherm for the type of clay used in this work is also reported. Drying tests conducted with corn-to-clay mass ratios of 1:10 and 1:5 showed no effect on the drying rate. Similar results were...

The sorption isotherm for the type of clay used in this work is also reported. Drying tests conducted with corn-to-clay mass ratios of 1:10 and 1:5 showed no effect on the drying rate. Similar results were obtained from drying experiments conducted with and without mechanical agitation of the mixtures. The effect of the clay temperature on corn drying was also investigated (temperatures used were 18, 40 and 50°C). Drying curves of corn subjected to air flows at 40 and 50°C were compared with those obtained with bentonite at the same temperatures. The drying kinetics in both cases were practically similar. © 1991. 1991 https://bibliotecadigital.exactas.uba.ar/collection/paper/document/paper_02608774_v13_n4_p273_Falabella http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12110/paper_02608774_v13_n4_p273_Falabella
