An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted at the Faculty of Dentistry of an Ecuadorian public university, in which 179 dental students in pre-professional clinical practice and 40 faculty advisors completed an anonymous survey featuring eight academic dishonesty scenarios to evaluate perceived severity and proposed sanctions. The majority (87.7% of students; 85% of teachers) reported having witnessed academic dishonesty. Significant differences (p<0.05) were found between students and teachers in the severity assigned to certain behaviors (e.g., forging signatures, performing unnecessary treatments) and in sanctions: teachers favored more severe disciplinary measures. Frequent dishonest behaviors compromise professional training and patient safety; therefore, it is recommended to strengthen professional ethics education and establish clear disciplinary guidelines to foster academic integrity. |

El objetivo fue identificar las conductas que transgreden la integridad académica en las prácticas clínicas preprofesionales de odontología según docentes y estudiantes y proponer estrategias preventivas. Para ello, se realizó un estudio transversal analítico en la Facultad de Odontología de una universidad pública ecuatoriana, en el que 179 estudiantes de odontología en práctica clínica preprofesional y 40 docentes tutores respondieron una encuesta anónima con ocho escenarios de deshonestidad académica, para evaluar la gravedad percibida y las sanciones propuestas. La mayoría (87,7% de estudiantes; 85% de docentes) reportó haber presenciado deshonestidad académica. Se hallaron diferencias significativas (p<0,05) entre estudiantes y docentes en la severidad asignada a algunas conductas (por ejemplo, falsificar firmas, realizar tratamientos innecesarios) y en las sanciones: los docentes optaron por medidas disciplinarias más severas. Las conductas deshonestas frecuentes comprometen la formación profesional y la seguridad del paciente, por lo que se recomienda reforzar la enseñanza de ética profesional y establecer pautas disciplinarias claras para fomentar la integridad académica. O objetivo deste trabalho foi identificar as condutas que transgridem a integridade acadêmica nas práticas clínicas pré-profissionais de odontologia, segundo docentes e estudantes, e propor estratégias preventivas. Por isso realizou-se um estudo transversal analítico na Faculdade de Odontologia de uma universidade pública equatoriana, no qual 179 estudantes de odontologia em prática clínica pré-profissional e 40 docentes tutores responderam a um questionário anônimo contendo oito cenários de desonestidade acadêmica, destinado a avaliar a gravidade percebida e as sanções propostas. A maioria dos participantes (87,7% dos estudantes; 85% dos docentes) relatou ter presenciado situações de desonestidade acadêmica. Verificaram-se diferenças significativas (p<0,05) entre estudantes e docentes quanto à severidade atribuída a algumas condutas (por exemplo, falsificação de assinaturas, realização de tratamentos desnecessários) e às sanções (propostas): os docentes optaram por medidas disciplinares mais severas. As condutas desonestas frequentes comprometem a formação profissional e a segurança do paciente; portanto, recomenda-se reforçar o ensino da ética profissional e estabelecer diretrizes disciplinares claras para promover a integridade acadêmica.
