| Sumario: | Between 1990 and 2025, the departments located in eastern Tucumán underwent profound territorial transformations associated with the expansion of the agricultural frontier. The spread of soybean and sugarcane monocultures led to the loss of more than 94.000 hectares of native forest, affecting biodiversity, landscape structure, and local living conditions. Based on the multitemporal analysis of Landsat imagery, socioeconomic databases, and field observations, changes in land use and fragmentation of the Chaco Forest were assessed. The results reveal a sustained reduction in natural vegetation cover. The study integrates geographical, ecological, and territorial approaches to understand the dynamics that characterize eastern Tucumán. |
