This article explores the relationship between the urban infrastructure of Ambato’s Southern Bus Station in Ecuador and its influence on the formation of an urban centrality in the southern part of the city. The bus station’s architectural project is critically analyzed, evaluating the use of the equipment, regulatory changes, and its connection to other bus stations in the city. Additionally, the impact of the bus station’s urban infrastructure on the urban development of Ambato’s Huachi Grande parish is investigated, considering changes in land use, population density, and infrastructure development. The study’s findings offer guidelines for more effective architectural planning, promoting the functional and ordered development of southern Ambato. El desarrollo urbano sostenible es clave en la planificación de las ciudades latinoamericanas. Los equipamientos urbanos son esenciales en la conformación de centralidades urbanas y en el desarrollo ordenado de las ciudades. Este artículo explora la relación entre el equipamiento urbano del Terminal Terrestre Sur de Ambato en Ecuador y su influencia en la conformación de una centralidad urbana en el sur de la ciudad. Se analiza críticamente el proyecto arquitectónico de la terminal, evaluando el uso del equipamiento, los cambios normativos y su relación con otros terminales en la ciudad. Además, se investiga el impacto del equipamiento urbano del Terminal Terrestre en el desarrollo urbano de la parroquia Huachi Grande en Ambato, considerando cambios en el uso de suelo, densidad poblacional y desarrollo de infraestructuras. Los hallazgos del estudio ofrecen pautas para una planificación arquitectónica más efectiva, promoviendo el desarrollo funcional y ordenado de la zona sur de Ambato.
