Sumario:One of the problems that cities face is the heat island, a phenomenon that generates thermal discomfort in the population. Green infrastructure is one of the nature-based solutions that contribute to mitigating it. The aim of this work is to analyze the influence of trees in the squares on the summer temperatures in the town of Punta Alta (Argentina). For this, the percentage of vegetation cover was obtained using the i-Tree Canopy software and a tree census was carried out. In addition, air temperature and relative humidity were measured at four sampling points in the squares, during the summer at 3:00 p.m. Finally, the vegetation comfort index was applied to twelve trees in the squares. It was concluded that all the trees contribute to mitigate summer temperatures, mainly the evergreen ones, and to improve the thermal comfort for the inhabitants.
