After analyzing a large set of photographs of high-rise buildings taken during research conducted between 2016 and 2023, the paper exposes and discusses a framing that proposes three types of sublime that can be useful to characterize the poetics of dwelling that the sociotechnical phenomenon of verticalization suggests to those who observe it. The text concludes that the technical poetics identified are organized around scales of vastness that underlie their aesthetic effect. Considerando los efectos estéticos que la intensiva construcción de edificaciones en altura tiene sobre los paisajes materiales de las ciudades chilenas, el presente texto explora la noción de sublime como un modo de caracterización de los modos de asombro y perplejidad que producen en quienes habitan estos entornos urbanos. Tras analizar un amplio conjunto de fotografías de edificios en a ltura tomadas durante investigaciones realizadas entre los años 2016 y 2023, el trabajo expone y discute un encuadramientoque propone tres tipos de sublime que pueden ser útiles para caracterizar las poéticas del habitar que el fenómeno sociotécnico de la verticalización sugiere a quienes la observan. El texto concluye que las poéticas técnicas identificadas están organizadas en torno a escalas de vastedad que fundamentan su efecto estético. Considerando os efeitos estéticos que a construção intensiva de edifícios altos tem sobre as paisagens materiais das cidades chilenas, este texto explora a noção de sublime como uma forma de caracterizar os modos deassombro e perplexidade que eles produzem naquelesque habitam esses ambientes urbanos. Depois de analisarum grande conjunto de fotografias de edifícios altostiradas durante uma pesquisa realizada entre 2016 e 2023, o artigo apresenta e discute um enquadramento que propõe três tipos de sublime que podem ser úteis para caracterizar a poética do habitar que o fenômenosociotécnico da verticalização sugere àqueles que o observam.
