The mineralizations follow the pattern of organictextures and with polarized light the plant morphology is distinguished withlight tones. The relationship between the minerals present in the collection ofthe silicified woods and the age of the Formation was considered in order toreinterpret the environment and consider some ecological, climatological andbiogeographical aspects of the vegetation that developed during the Permian. Este estudio tiene como objetivo investigar la mineralogía y los procesos diagenéticos involucrados en maderas fósiles de la Formación Carapacha. Las técnicas aplicadas con difracción de rayos X (DRX) y microscopía óptica de polarización permitieron el reconocimiento y caracterización de las fases presentes: cuarzo, calcita y óxidos de hierro. Las mineralizaciones identificadas siguen el patrón de las texturas orgánicas y con luz polarizada se distingue la morfología vegetal con tonalidades claras. También se tuvo en cuenta la relación entre los minerales presentes en las maderas silicificadas colectadas y la edad de la Formación, con la finalidad de reinterpretar el ambiente y considerar algunos aspectos ecológicos, climatológicos y biogeográficos de la  vegetación que se desarrolló durante el Pérmico.
