To do this, a brief racconto of production in the province was used. Subsequently, the contextualization of forest exploitation in the Alba Posse was carried out, in the period between 1930 and 2016. This is a case study. To carry it out, the historical method was used with the purpose of analyzing forestry activity and accounting for the historical transformations of forest explotation and identifying its environmental and social impacts. Rural exile was particularly evident starting in the 1990s, when the price of the peso favored Argentines to make purchases in Brazil and decreased the settlers' income from their production, based mainly on tobacco and yerba mate. That, added to the few possibilities for progress in the region due to the difficulties in obtaining jobs, led many of its inhabitants to look for new places to settle. El presente estudio pretende dar cuenta del modo en que se desarrolló la actividad forestal en la localidad de Alba Posse, provincia de Misiones, que pasó de ser un lugar que atraía población a uno que la expulsa. Para ello, se recurrió a un breve racconto de la producción en la provincia. Posteriormente, se procedió con la contextualización de la explotación forestal en el pueblo de Alba Posse, en el período comprendido entre los años 1930 y 2016. Se trata de un estudio de caso. Para llevarlo adelante, se recurrió al método histórico con el propósito de analizar la actividad forestal y dar cuenta de las transformaciones históricas de la explotación forestal e identificar sus impactos ambientales y sociales. El exilio o éxodo rural fue particularmente evidente a partir de la década de 1990, cuando el valor del peso favoreció a los argentinos para realizar compras en Brasil, en tanto que los ingresos de los colonos por su producción, basada fundamentalmente en el tabaco y la yerba mate, sufrieron una fuerte disminución. Ese hecho, sumado a las limitadas posibilidades de progreso en la región, debido a las dificultades para obtener empleos, ocasionó que muchos de sus habitantes se vieran obligados a buscar nuevos lugares donde asentarse.
