Less well known is the fact that he served as a medical officer in the health service of the Argentinian Army between 1915 and 1920. The aim of this work is to analyze his professional career as a military doctor, his scientific production developed during in health service and his collaborations in the publications of this service before, during and after hisperformance as an army officer. I suggest that his academic and professional career as a doctor is expressive of the existence of a network of institutional and personal relations between the Army, Health and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Buenos Aires. El médico argentino Salvador Mazza es bien conocido en la historiografía médica y la historia de la salud y enfermedad por sus investigaciones sobre la “enfermedad de Chagas” en la Argentina. Menos conocido es el hecho de que revistó como oficial médico en el servicio de sanidad del Ejército de ese país entre 1915 y 1920. Este trabajo tiene por objeto su carrera profesional como médico militar, su producción científica en el servicio de sanidad y sus colaboraciones en las publicaciones de este servicio antes, durantey con posterioridad a su desempeño como oficial del Ejército. Sostengo que su trayectoria académica y profesional como médico es expresiva de la existencia de una red de relaciones institucionales y personales entre la sanidad del Ejército y la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Buenos Aires.
