In particular, the elements of abusive constitutionalism present in the initiative, convocation and integration of the National Constituent Assembly of 2017 are analyzed, a formula invoked by Nicolas Maduro as a response to the institutional crisis aggravated by the confrontation between the Government and the opposition-majority Congress. This body would become another manifestation of an authoritarian regulatory design aimed at dismantling the rule of law, dissent against the regime and the political freedoms of citizens. El presente trabajo analiza la trayectoria constituyente de Venezuela a finales del siglo XX y su posterior deriva autoritaria de 2017. En particular, son analizados los elementos del constitucionalismo abusivo presentes en la iniciativa, convocatoria e integración de la Asamblea Nacional Constituyente de 2017, una formula invocada por Nicolas Maduro como respuestaante la crisis institucional agravada por el enfrentamiento entre el Gobierno y el Congreso de mayoría opositora. Este órgano seconvertiría en una manifestación más de un diseño normativo autoritario orientado a desarticular el Estado de Derecho, la disidencia al régimen y las libertades políticas de la ciudadanía.
