The species has a wide distribution worldwide and behaves as a weed in crops. It is here morphologically described, along with its habitat, phenology, diagnostic characteristics, photographs, vernacular names, and information about its geographical distribution in Argentina and Bolivia. Finally, a hypothesis is proposed regarding its possible entry pathway into our country. Se da a conocer un nuevo registro para la flora adventicia argentina mediante el reporte de una población de Achyranthes aspera en el noreste de la provincia de Salta. La especie posee una amplia distribución en el mundo y se comporta como maleza de cultivos. Se la describe morfológicamente, su hábitat, fenología, caracteres diagnósticos, se incluyen fotografías, nombres vernáculos y valores de uso en otras regiones y se brinda información de su distribución geográfica en Argentina y Bolivia. Finalmente, se hipotetiza acerca de la posible vía de ingreso a nuestro país.
