description When we talk about the right to development a debate about what it means opens: is the right to development merely the right to an economic progress or it involves an economic, social, cultural and political process? In the following pages I will analyse the case of Salinas Grandes, where the installation of mining companies seeking to extract lithium from the salt flats with the support of the governments of Salta and Jujuy, led to the manifestation of several indigenous communities. This communities understood that, while this installation would generate some economic progress for their provinces, some human rights such as the right to a healthy environment and the right to cultural identity, among others, would be violated. To develop this work I turned not only to journalistic material and reports from specialized centres, but also to the testimony from the protagonists.
