On the basis of the practice of translation and contrastive linguistics, I first of all expose one of the mechanisms that can contribute to the differential valuation of languages for their use in the sciences: their linguistic conformation. That is to say that, certainly without denying them, I do not appeal, in principle, to issues such as linguistic imperialism, nor to the denunciation of indexing mechanisms in the almost exclusive hands of Clarivate Analytics, nor to the H factor for measuring the impact of publications, but I use elements of applied linguistics. To this end I justify this mechanism with the analysis of translation problems such as polysemy, zero equivalence (Kutz, 1982) and variation in terminology (Kuguel, 2010), examples of language contrasts from the current initiated by Lado in 1957, especially with regard to verbs with particles and the existence or non-existence of other phenomena (aorist-preterite imperfect difference, Weinrich, 1964; compounds by parataxis or with prepositions; ser-estar distinction, etc.). I then complement this perspective with a glottopolitical view: I use the concept of sociolinguistic representations (among others, Boyer, 1991, Narvaja de Arnoux and del Valle, 2010) and the postulation of languages as fetish (Bein, 2005), to show that these particular features of languages and the concomitant translation techniques feed or undermine their exchange value (Bochmann-Seiler, 2010) in concrete socio-economic circumstances.

Es decir que, ciertamente sin negarlas, no apelo, en principio, a cuestiones como el imperialismo lingüístico ni a la denuncia de los mecanismos de indexación en manos casi exclusivas de Clarivate Analytics ni al factor H que se usa para medir el impacto de las publicaciones, sino que empleo elementos de la lingüística aplicada. Para ello parto del análisis de problemas de la traducción como en casos de polisemia, de equivalencia cero (Kutz, 1982) y de variación en terminología (Kuguel, 2010), así como de ejemplos de contrastación de lenguas a partir de la corriente iniciada por Lado en 1957, en especial en lo relativo a los verbos con partículas y la existencia o inexistencia de otros fenómenos (diferencia aoristo-pretérito imperfecto; compuestos por parataxis o con preposiciones; distinción ser-estar, etc.). Luego, en cambio, complemento esta perspectiva con una visión glotopolítica: empleo el concepto de representaciones sociolingüísticas (entre otros, Boyer, 1991, Narvaja de Arnoux y del Valle, 2010) y la postulación de las lenguas como fetiche (Bein, 2005), para mostrar que estos rasgos particulares de las lenguas y las técnicas de traducción concomitantes alimentan o menoscaban su valor de cambio (Bochmann-Seiler, 2010) en circunstancias socioeconómicas concretas. Isto quer dizer que, certamente sem os negar, não apelo, em princípio, a questões como o imperialismo linguístico, nem à denúncia dos mecanismos de indexação nas mãos quase exclusivas da Clarivate Analytics, nem ao fator H utilizado para medir o impacto das publicações, mas utilizo elementos da linguística aplicada. Para o efeito, parto da análise de problemas de tradução como nos casos de polissemia, de equivalência zero (Kutz, 1982) e de variação terminológica (Kuguel, 2010), bem como de exemplos de contrastes linguísticos da corrente iniciada por Lado em 1957, sobretudo no que diz respeito a verbos com partículas e à existência ou não de outros fenómenos (diferença aoristo-pretérito imperfeito, Weinrich, 1964; compostos por parataxe ou com preposições; distinção ser-estar, etc.). Em seguida, complemento esta perspectiva com uma visão glotopolítica: utilizo o conceito de representações sociolinguísticas (entre outros, Boyer, 1991, Narvaja de Arnoux e del Valle, 2010) e a minha postulação das línguas como fetiche (Bein, 2005), para mostrar que estas caraterísticas particulares das línguas e as técnicas de tradução concomitantes alimentam ou minam o seu valor de troca (Bochmann-Seiler, 2010) em circunstâncias socioeconómicas concretas.
