Bastos Amigo, Santiago Indigenous community Indigenous peoples Autonomy Mexico Comunidad indígena Pueblos indígenas Autonomía México Comunidade indígena Povos indígenas Autonomia México In the context of the revitalization of the concept of "community" associated with indigenous belonging, this text seeks to propose a way of understanding and analyzing community spaces, through the analysis of the case of Mezcala, a locality in Jalisco that in large part does not fall within the canons of the indigenous community but is immersed in a process of re-communalization for the defense of its territory. By studying "the communitarian" through its institutions, practices and ideologies and including conflict as an inherent part, at least four ways of understanding the community and practicing the communitarian emerged in Mezcala.
