In our work converge, among others, the particular history of a religious order as old as Spanish colonialism, the regional situation of southern Peru at the beginning of the 20th century, the offensive of Peruvian Catholicism and the nature of the missions that oscillated between religious paternalism and the support for the expansion of the state and of people who thought of the jungle as a civilizing, economic frontier and in which the original man was absent. Este artículo presenta las principales ideas planteadas en la revista Misiones Dominicanas del Perú (MDP), que empezó a publicarse en 1919. Se expone como una muestra narrativa -pues también incluyó profusamente la fotografía- de la evangelización tardía en la Amazonia de principios del siglo XX. En nuestro trabajo convergen, entre otras, la historia particular de una Orden religiosa tan antigua como el colonialismo español, la situación regional del sur peruano de inicios del siglo XX, la ofensiva del catolicismo peruano y su rol de construir una frontera civilizatoria en la cual estaba ausente el poblador originario. Este artigo apresenta as principais ideias defendidas pela revista Misiones Dominicanas del Perú (MDP), publicada desde 1919. Apresenta-se como uma amostra narrativa -já que também apresenta ampla cobertura fotográfica- da evangelização tardia da Amazônia no início do século XX. Nosso trabalho reúne, entre outros aspectos, a história particular de uma Ordem religiosa tão antiga quanto o colonialismo espanhol, a situação regional no sul do Peru no início do século XX, a ofensiva do catolicismo peruano e seu papel na construção de uma fronteira civilizacional onde os habitantes originais estavam ausentes.
