El presente trabajo se basa en el análisis de expedientes judiciales criminales tramitados en la ciudad de San Miguel de Tucumán entre 1750 y 1810. a partir del abordaje del cuatrerismo o abigeato -el delito más común y extendido- se buscó acceder a las prácticas de los sectores subalternosen el ámbito rural. Se detalla el funcionamiento de la justicia colonialen las áreas rurales y luego se analizan las modalidades del cuatrerismo que presentan características disímiles. Este artigo baseia-se na análise de autos criminais tramitados na cidade de San Miguel de Tucumán entre 1750 e 1810. Ao abordar o roubo de gado -o crime mais comum e disseminado-, buscou-se compreender as práticas de setores subalternos em áreas rurais. Detalha o funcionamento da justiça colonial em áreas rurais e, em seguida, analisa as modalidades de roubo de gado que apresentam características distintas.
