To this end, it proposes as a reading hypothesis that the character is a rewriting of the divine figure of the Hermes psychopompos or conductor of souls to the Hades. From the detailed commentary on the four apparitions, it is possible to sustain this intertextual motif with the classical Greek myth and at the same time to rethink the enunciation of the whole novel –in connection with a line of contemporary Latin American literature– as the expression of the voice of the dead protagonist.
