It argues that the electoral defeat suffered by the radicalism in 1946 and the internal crisis unleashed as a corollary of this had as a correlate the party’s refunctionalization, reflected in a change in the organizational structure and a leadership replacement. This process, developed in the late forties, defined the decline of the staff that came from the political order previous to the coup d´etat of 1943 and undermined the traditional federative structure of the radicalism. El artículo analiza las transformaciones y conflictos desarrollados al interior de la dirigencia departamental de la Unión Cívica Radical de Tucumán durante el período de emergencia y consolidación del peronismo. Sostiene que la derrota electoral sufrida por el radicalismo en 1946 y la crisis interna desatada como corolario de esta tuvieron como correlato una refuncionalización del partido, plasmada en una modificación de la estructura organizativa y un recambio dirigencial. Este proceso, desarrollado a fines de los años cuarenta, definió el ocaso de los planteles provenientes del orden político anterior al golpe de Estado de 1943 y socavó la tradicional estructura federativa del radicalismo.
