It focuses on the farmer’s relationship with the land, through a detailed analysis of the tenancy contracts that can be found in the Justice of the Peace’s archives of the district. El trabajo analiza la evolución histórica del arrendamiento agrícola en la provincia de Buenos Aires, desde el último tercio del siglo XIX hasta la Segunda Guerra Mundial, como un caso más del fenómeno general conocido como de “consolidación de la hacienda”, común al mundo rural latinoamericano de entonces. Lo hace a través del análisis de un caso –el partido de Coronel Dorrego, en la provincia de Buenos Aires– estudiando en detalle los contratos de arrendamiento que se encuentran en el juzgado de paz del distrito, así como de la legislación vigente entonces.
