The hero´s symptoms recall those described in On the Sacred Disease and Diseases of Young Girls. In addition to a lexical coincidence, the texts share ideas about the origin of the disease and the healing process, the study of which allow me to develop a new reading of the end of the tragedy.  A fin de aportar al estudio de la representación de la locura en el género trágico, el objetivo del presente artículo consiste en analizar la tragedia Orestes de Eurípides considerando las similitudes con dos tratados que forman parte del Corpus Hippocraticum. Los síntomas presentados por el héroe recuerdan aquellos descriptos en Sobre la enfermedad sagrada y Sobre las enfermedades de las vírgenes.
