| Sumario: | The aim of this paper is to study the discoursive construction of space in Horace’s satire 1.8. We consider the ideological assumptions and the social practices involved in the way the spaces shaped in the text (garden, cemetery) are thought of, simultaneously examining the discoursive strategies employed in their respective formulations. Finally, we try to show in which way and for what reasons these spaces can overlap and which are the effects this overlapping entails. |
