description We propose to analyze from a patrimonial and territorial perspective how the social, economic and political processes that occurred in the last decade in the Vuelta de Obligado site impacted on the configuration of the current valuations around the archaeological site of the nineteenth century battle. As members of the archaeological research team that works in this area since 2000, we have witnessed a series of public policies related to residential planning and the development of tourism that influenced, among other things, the assessments of materiality associated with the battle of Vuelta de Obligado. In this context, the property that was the battlefield and the objects linked to this event were revalued as a symbol of national sovereignty. Various social actors with conflicting interests converged, constituting the Vuelta de Obligado site in a territory in dispute between actors with unequal economic and political power. The processes described in this paper invite us to think about the territorial transformations that the patrimonialization processes entail.
