In some of them, the legislation is more specific and establishes the hunting season, minimum size of the prey and requirements to be fulfilled by hunters. At national level, The Natural Resources and Human Environment Secretary is responsible for the general guidelines, adopted by the majority of the provinces and adjusted to the particular conditions of each of them. This organization is also responsible for quantifying the volume of leather units to export, fixing the quota for each province, the regulatory framework and the documentation to be carried out by exporters. Tupinambis Project, from the National Program for the Management and Sustainable Use of Wild Species is a fundamental tool for the rational use of this species. The existence of numerous guidelines and regulations, the overlapping of most of them, together with the overlapping of the authorities in charge of their application, determine the convenience of creating unified global guidelines, more complete, simple and clear which would allow the development of a technologically and economically efficient production, sustainable in the ecological environment. Vieites, C.M. 2005 La legislación argentina que regula el comercio y aprovechamiento del Tupinambis es de carácter general en la mayoría de las provincias. En algunas, la legislación es más específica, fijando la temporada de caza, tamaño mínimo de los ejemplares y requisitos a reunir por los cazadores. A nivel nacional, la Secretaría de Recursos Naturales y Ambiente Humano es la responsable de la normativa general, adherida por la mayoría de las provincias y ajustada a las condiciones particulares de cada una de ellas. También es responsable de cuantificar el volumen de cueros a exportar, fijar los cupos de cada provincia, el marco regulatorio y documentación a cumplimentar los exportadores. El Proyecto Tupinambis, del Programa Nacional de Manejo y Uso Sustentable de Especies Silvestres, es una herramienta fundamental para el aprovechamiento racional de esta especie. La diversidad de normas y regulaciones, la superposición de muchas de ellas y de las autoridades de aplicación determinan la conveniencia de contar con una normativa global unificada, completa, sencilla y clara que permita desarrollar una producción eficiente desde el punto de vista tecnológico y económico, y sustentable en el ámbito ecológico.
