On the contrary, it maintains that there are physico-mathematical reasons –internal reasons– which turn incompatible the dynamical and the kinematical notion of acceleration. On one hand, the Oresmian explanation of velocitatio in fine through the impetus theory does not seem to provide uniform acceleration, which is necessary to the theorem. On the other hand, uniform acceleration did not fulfil the essential condition of continuity. To sum up: the mean speed theorem would not have been applied even though it would not have been demonstrated secundum imaginationem. Finally, on the base of this interpretation it is proposed a hypothesis on the possible foundations of the application in Domingo de Soto. [The second part is in the following volume, vol. 14, 1993] Este trabajo trata acerca de la caída libre de los cuerpos en la dinámica de Oresme y su teorema de la velocidad media, que no se aplicó hasta Domingo de Soto. Pretende explicar por qué Oresme no realizó esta aplicación a la caída libre sin recurrir a razones “externas” como la epistemología secundum imaginationem. Por el contrario, sostiene que hay razones físico-matemáticas –razones internas– que hacen incompatibles la noción dinámica y la cinemática de la aceleración. Por un lado, la explicación oresmiana de la velocitatio in fine a través de la teoría del ímpetu no parece proporcionar una aceleración uniforme, que es necesaria para el teorema. Por otro lado, la aceleración uniforme no cumplía la condición esencial de continuidad. En resumen: el teorema de la velocidad media no se habría aplicado aunque no se hubiera demostrado secundum imaginationem. Finalmente, sobre la base de esta interpretación se propone una hipótesis sobre los posibles fundamentos de la aplicación en Domingo de Soto.
