In this article I propose to analyze the narrations and conversations collected by Ana Fernández Garay (2002) as performances of bilingual narrators from the province of La Pampa (Argentina). The texts show a certain decline of the Ranquel, a variety of the Mapuche language. The few linguistic means and continuous code-switching do not seem to leave much room for make-belief techniques in the stories told. Nor do they seem to be necessary between sisters or spouses, for instance. Three myths, eight animal stories, sixteen monologues and another eight conversations about events in the past will allow a comparative analysis of the narrative strategies of make-belief in these texts. By comparing fictional stories (epew) with historical narratives (ngütram) I identify certain widespread strategies of make-belief (especially repetition). I relate these results to theories of belief as possible knowledge, as elaborated by María Inés Palleiro and her group of investigations (2008). |

En este artículo propongo analizar las narraciones y las conversaciones recopiladas por Ana Fernández Garay (2002) como actuaciones de narradoras bilingües de la provincia de La Pampa. Los textos muestran una situación de desgaste del idioma ranquel (comparado con otros dialectos Mapuche) en estos testimonios. Los escasos recursos lingüísticos (con alternancia frecuente de códigos) no parecen dejar mucho lugar para hacer creer a los oyentes en lo que se cuenta. Ni parecen necesarios entre hermanas o esposos, por ejemplo. Tres mitos, ocho cuentos de animales, dieciséis monólogos y ocho conversaciones sobre eventos del pasado permiten un análisis comparativo de las estrategias para hacer creíble lo narrado a los receptores. La comparación entre las narraciones de ficción (epew) con las narraciones históricas (ngütram) nos permite identificar ciertas estrategias comunes para hacer creer (especialmente la repetición), así como también, relacionar los resultados del análisis con las teorías de creencias como formas de saber posible, elaboradas por María Inés Palleiro y su grupo de investigación (2008). Neste artigo, proponho analisar as narração e as conversações recopiladas por Ana Fernández Garay (2002) como atuações de narradoras bilíngües da província La Pampa. Os textos mostram uma situação de desgaste do idioma [ranquel] (comparado com outros dialetos Mapuche) nestes testemunhos. Os poucos recursos lingüísticos (com alternância freqüente de códigos) não parecem deixar muito lugar para fazer crer aos ouvintes no que se conta. Nem parecem necessários entre irmãs ou esposos, por exemplo. Três mitos, oito contos de animais, dezesseis monólogos e oito conversações sobre eventos do passado permitem uma análise comparativo das estratégias para fazer crer o narrado aos receptores.
