It is considered a resource that promotes mobile learning and offers advantages that should be used in the educational field. Este artículo presenta la experiencia de utilizar la aplicación WhatsApp como una herramienta para promover la comunicación y el aprendizaje en el ámbito universitario, específicamente desde la Escuela de Bibliotecología y Ciencias de la Información de la Universidad de Costa Rica. Se implementó su uso en 7 cursos ofrecidos durante los años 2018 y 2019, obteniéndose resultados satisfactorios a través de una investigación con enfoque cuantitativo y alcance descriptivo que se realizó con 165 estudiantes de diferentes niveles.
