Unfortunately, the current state of our research, if it makes these notes possible, does not allow us to construct a comprehensive and documented historical study of the YPFB company like those recently carried out for the public companies Administración Nacional de Combustibles, Alcohol y Portland (ANCAP) and Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales (YPF) of Uruguay and Argentina, respectively.11 In the early years, the documentation examined to date shows incompleteness, discontinuities and discrepancies, including in the company's own bound volumes for the years 1937 to 1943. 12 Based on diplomatic, bibliographic and newspaper sources, this study is limited to the period between the founding of YPFB and the Second World War, when Bolivia's convulsed domestic political situation,13 as well as its international relations, were transformed, initiating a new political era and a new era in commercial and diplomatic dealings with the United States of America, changing the rules of the game for the company. En estas notas intentaremos estudiar la empresa estatal YPFB, convertida en 1937 en una empresa autárquica, dotada con el monopolio de la explotación y distribución de los hidrocarburos bolivia-nos, como consecuencia de la incautación y desahucio de la compañía Standard Oil of Bolivia (marzo de 1937).
