This analysis is based on two types of reviews: on the one hand, those that deal with the question of the separation between ownership andmanagement; on the other hand, those that recount different real experiences of democratic control, both classical and with more recent impulse. Second, thearticle develops a classification that allows the schematic mapping of economic democracy’s main configurations. Finally, a characterization for horizontal organization is offered, an ideal type that maximizes the democratic and equal treatment for people who obtain their main source of material support, as well as an essential space for personal fulfillment, from it. La democracia económica expresa la aspiración de equiparar en el plano económico-organizacional las conquistas políticas obtenidas por varias sociedades modernas desde los tiempos de la Ilustración. En relación a esta idea, el artículo plantea tres objetivos. En primer término, se propone demarcar y revalorizar la gestión de las organizaciones como una dimensión adicional para la democracia económica. El análisis se apoya en dos tipos de reseñas: por un lado, aquellas que tratan sobre la cuestión de la separación entre propiedad y gestión; por otro lado, las que refieren a las diferentes experiencias reales decontrol democrático, tanto clásicas como de origen más reciente. En segundo lugar, el artículo desarrolla una clasificación que permite el mapeo esquemáticode las principales configuraciones de democracia económica.
