We will analyze the strategies and alliances existing in the process of social interaction destined to preserve the material and symbolic capital and with it the areas of power in the turbulent years between the Borbonic reforms and the crisis of the Colonial order and the followin War of Independence, in the jurisdiction of Salta city. El objetivo de este artículo es estudiar los procesos de ascenso y consolidación de dos familias de la élite de Salta, a fines del períoido colonial, con la finalidad de apreciar la persistencia de valores sociales como el linaje y el prestigio social frente al éxito económico resultante de la actividad mercantil. Analizaremos así las estrategias y alianzas que se despliegan en el proceso de interacción social destinadas a preservar el capital material y simbólico y con él espacios de poder, en los tubulentos años que transcurren entre las reformas borbónicas y la crisis del orden colonial, y la consiguiente guerra de independencia que se desarrollará en la jurisdicción de la ciudad de Salta. O objetivo deste artigo é estudar a ascensão e a consolidação de duas famílias da elite saltenha no final do período colonial, a fim de avaliar a persistência de valores sociais como linhagem e prestígio social diante do sucesso econômico decorrente da atividade comercial.
