El presente trabajo es un aporte para el conocimiento, a través del análisis de fuentes escritas, de la diversidad espacio-temporal de los sistemas de asentamiento y subsistencia aborígenes de la cuenca superior y media del río Limay, noroeste patagónico, durante los siglos XVII y XIX. Caracterizamos los sistemas económicos y establecemos su correspondencia con las distintas etnías que, según las fuentes, se hallaban presentes en la zona durante el período en estudio. Además, discutimos algunos problemas relacionados con las asignaciones étnicas y los criterios utilizados para su identificación Este artigo contribui para a compreensão, por meio da análise de fontes escritas, da diversidade espaço-temporal dos sistemas de assentamento e subsistência aborígenes da bacia do alto e médio rio Limay, noroeste da Patagônia, durante os séculos XVII e XIX.
