The ample line of this labor system is reviewed by reformulating and revising former hypotheses already published in 1988. The discussion relies on data and references on the appraisal of tribute, both in kind and cash in the northern border of the Province. As a result, we can learn more about the limits of personal service, while emphasizing a relationship between that northern border with the colonial pattern set up in Charcas. El trabajo aborda el problema y los límites del servicio personal en el Tucumán Colonial. Se revisan las grandes líneas de este sistema de prestaciones, reformulando y corrigiendo algunas hipótesis y reflexiones ya publicadas en 1988. El aporte más original consiste en discutir datos y referencias sobre tributación en especies y dinero en el extremo norte de la Provincia, con lo cual se señalan por primera vez, con mayor precisión, en qué consisten los límites de estas prácticas y se enfatiza la mayor inserción de ese sector con los modelos coloniales charqueños A obra aborda a problemática e os limites do serviço pessoal na Tucumán Colonial. Revisam-se as principais linhas deste sistema de benefícios, reformulando e corrigindo algumas hipóteses e reflexões já publicadas em 1988.
