But they are also united somehow through their migrant and ideological paths. It is feasible therefore to find coincidences in their literary works as well as in their personal and professional trajectories. In this paper, we will approach the topic of enclosed contexts from the field of Comparative Literatures, we will place our attention on Beckett’s late period and the last drama pieces written by Cortázar, an aspect of his oeuvre that has not been studied in depth. The historical processes are reflected in these plays that share the characteristic of being closed systems: the action takes place in one act and in limited spaces, in which the characters are oppressors and oppressed. In our current context, these enclosed environments are resignified in terms of confinement, isolation, and alienation. We will focus then on the restrictions regarding space, movement, and language. Al ser escritores contemporáneos, Samuel Beckett y Julio Cortázar tienen un determinado contexto político internacional en común, especialmente en cuanto a la influencia y consecuencias de las guerras mundiales. Pero también les unen, de alguna manera, los desplazamientos y un recorrido ideológico. Es posible entonces encontrar coincidencias tanto en sus obras como en sus trayectorias. En este artículo, abordaremos los contextos de encierro desde el enfoque de las Literaturas Comparadas. Nos concentraremos en el período tardío de Beckett y en las últimas piezas dramáticas escritas por Cortázar, un aspecto de su obra que ha sido poco estudiado. Los procesos históricos se reflejan en estas obras que comparten el hecho de ser sistemas cerrados: piezas en un acto y en espacios delimitados en los cuales hay personajes que ejercen y sufren opresión. En el contexto actual, estos contextos de encierro se resignifican en tanto confinamiento, aislamiento y alienación.
