This reality helps uncover the knowledge that contributes to systematize and create new ways and possibilities to understand rural education in Chile. The objective of the article is to analyze the job experiences of teachers working in rural schools regarding commute and its influence in their daily professional activities in La Araucanía (Chile). Methodologically, this research is carried out from a qualitative and interpretative approach, using a descriptive, exploratory and transversal design. Content analysis and in-depth interviews were used for data interpretation from the standpoint of the generative narrative. Among the results, two main dimensions can be highlighted, such as the aspects regarding life stories and expectations of rural teachers, and their experiences and mobility practices including aspects that transcend the commute. Las experiencias de vida del profesorado que se ha desempeñado en contextos de ruralidad constituyen una herramienta histórico-cultural válida para comprender las prácticas de movilidad y el desempeño laboral. Esta realidad permite develar aquellos saberes que aportan en la sistematización y la generación de nuevas formas y posibilidades de comprensión de la educación rural en Chile. El objetivo del artículo es analizar las experiencias de trabajo de profesores que se desempeñan en escuelas rurales, en relación con el viaje y su influencia en el desarrollo de sus actividades profesionales cotidianas en La Araucanía. En lo metodológico, la investigación se desarrolla desde un enfoque interpretativo cualitativo; a partir de un diseño descriptivo, exploratorio y transversal. Para la interpretación de los datos se recurrió al análisis de contenido y las entrevistas en profundidad, desde la perspectiva narrativa generativa. Dentro de los resultados destacan dos dimensiones centrales.
