Female political activists dared to participate in a masculine public space. In the eyes of the repression, activist women committed to sins: to question the military coup and to occupy a social space destined only to men. Even the left-wing organizations do not propitiated discussion about the relations between masculine/feminine, because there was a more important  contradiction to be resolved, that of bourgeoisie and proletariat. And this reinforced the masculine power inside those organizations. The repression always aimed women’s body, not only to torture them but also to humiliate them. Characterizing activist women as “the communist whore”, the repression tried to confine women to a private and domestic space. A história da repressão durante a ditadura militar brasileira foi uma historia de homens e as relações de gênero estavam aí excluídas. Ousar adentrar o espaço público, privado, masculino foi o que fizeram muitas mulheres ao se engajarem nas diversas organizações clandestinas existentes no Brasil durante a ditadura militar. A mulher militante cometia dois pecados aos olhos da repressão: o de se insurgir contra a política golpista, fazendo-lhe oposição e de desconsiderar o lugar destinado socialmente á mulher, rompendo os padrões estabelecidos para os dois sexos. Faziam política, coisa de homens e invadiam o espaço público, lugar de homens. As próprias organizações de esquerda não propiciavam o debate sobre as relações  eminino/masculino, sobre as questões femininas, porque havia uma contradição maior a ser resolvida: a oposição entre a burguesia e o proletariado. Isto reforçava o poder masculino dentro das organizações. A repressão tinha sempre como alvo o corpo feminino, não somente para torturar, mas para ameaçar, para humilhar. Caracteriza a mulher militante como “puta comunista”, ambas as categorias desviantes dos padrões estabelecidos pela sociedade, que enclausura a mulher no mundo privado e doméstico.
