This paper aims to estimate and briefly describe the evolution of the production and use of plant protein, particularly soy protein, for animal feed, and to characterize different regions of the world according to their degree of dependence on imported protein. The paper evaluates the evolution of these regional dependencies on a global scale (considering the United Nations geo-schema) over a set of key years that allow for a description of their trajectory: 1961 (the first statistical data available), 1979, 2001, 2013, and 2022. The goal is to acquire a more precise understanding of the external dependence of different regions on soy protein for animal feed and to observe the main changes in this area. The paper concludes by observing a geographical structure of relative positions around which common interests and dependency relationships arise, which can help to understand behaviors in the arena of international relations.

El presente trabajo tiene por objetivo estimar y describir sintéticamente la evolución de la producción y uso de proteína vegetal, en particular la derivada de la soja, destinada a la alimentación animal y caracterizar a las distintas regiones del mundo según el grado de dependencia de la proteína importada. El trabajo evalúa la evolución de estas dependencias regionales a escala mundial (considerando el geo-esquema de las Naciones Unidas) en un conjunto de años claves que permiten describir su trayectoria: 1961 (primer dato estadístico disponible), 1979, 2001, 2013, 2022. Se busca, de este modo, adquirir una dimensión más precisa de la dependencia externa de las distintas regiones de la proteína de la soja destinada a la alimentación animal y observar los principales cambios en esta dimensión. El trabajo concluye observando una estructura geográfica de posiciones relativas en torno a la cual se levantan intereses comunes y relaciones de dependencia que pueden ayudar a comprender comportamientos en la arena de las relaciones internacionales. Este artigo tem como objetivo estimar e descrever brevemente a evolução da produção e utilização de proteína vegetal, particularmente proteína de soja, para alimentação animal, e caracterizar diferentes regiões do mundo de acordo com seu grau de dependência de proteína importada. O artigo avalia a evolução dessas dependências regionais em escala global (considerando o geoesquema das Nações Unidas) ao longo de um conjunto de anos-chave que permitem descrever sua trajetória: 1961 (primeiros dados estatísticos disponíveis), 1979, 2001, 2013 e 2022. O objetivo é obter uma compreensão mais precisa da dependência externa de diferentes regiões em relação à proteína de soja para alimentação animal e observar as principais mudanças nessa área. O artigo conclui observando uma estrutura geográfica de posições relativas em torno das quais surgem interesses comuns e relações de dependência, o que pode auxiliar na compreensão de comportamentos na arena das relações internacionais.
