| Sumario: | Current trends of investigation focus on emphasizing the concealment suffered by the African culture in the building of Argentinian identity. Apart of this segregation, numerous musical elements have remained unknown or even suffered extinction. It is in this context that the mention of the marimba in various studies on Afro–Argentine music raises questions about its existence and development in our territory. The objective of this work is to gather the available written and iconographic sources on the Afro–Argentine marimba in order to analyze them and propose a possible reconstruction that brings together the specific organological characteristics of this instrument, which saw its practice discontinued, leading to its disappearance in the territory.
