This article investigates the circumstances and the compositional, stylistic, musical, and intertextual elements that enable an exploration of the artistic dialogue between jazz and specific folkloric expressions from the Litoral region, such as chamamé. Through the transcription and musical notation of the piece, the study aims to identify stylistic features characteristic of each genre. Additionally, it explores the ways in which these genres intersect and merge, framing this convergence as a condition for understanding the artistic inquiry articulated in «Tereré on the Rocks». The analysis includes the examination of form, harmony, melody, improvisation, and selected extra musical factors, such as album cover design, the titles and its connotations, and the musicians ‘speeches in the media. El presente artículo realiza un estudio de caso en el que se analiza e interpreta la pieza instrumental «Tereré on the rocks», compuesta por el guitarrista argentino Ernesto Snajer e incluida en su álbum De Dos Argentinos (2016). En el recorrido de la investigación nos interrogamos acerca de cuáles son las circunstancias y los elementos compositivos, estilísticos, musicales e inter–textuales que permiten pensar el diálogo artístico entre el género del jazz y determinados lenguajes folklóricos del Litoral, como el chamamé. Mediante un trabajo de desgrabación y transcripción de la pieza se pretende explorarla con la finalidad de identificar rasgos estilísticos particulares que serían propios del lenguaje de cada género musical. Asimismo, se indaga en las formas en que estos confluyen y se fusionan, como la condición de posibilidad para comprender la búsqueda artística expresada en «Tereré on the rocks». Se efectúa un análisis aplicado que incluye el estudio de la forma, la armonía, las melodías, las improvisaciones y algunos aspectos extra–musicales como son el diseño de portada de los discos, los títulos, sus connotaciones y los discursos de los músicos en los medios de comunicación.
