The text provides a concise overview of the issue and describes the process leading up to this publication, the thematic axes addressed in the articles, and the theoretical and methodological approaches that underpin their content.   La música popular del Litoral argentino no ha sido objeto de suficientes investigaciones provenientes del ámbito académico. Sin embargo, en los últimos años, se ha manifestado un mayor interés a partir de la realización no solamente de tesis de grado y posgrado sino también con la apertura de espacios específicos en instituciones formales de enseñanza, iniciativas entre las cuales se cuenta el presente dossier. El texto realiza un escueto estado de la cuestión y describe el proceso que precedió a esta publicación, los ejes temáticos abordados en los artículos y los enfoques teóricos y metodológicos que vertebran su contenido.
