The main objectives are to identify, analyze, and compare students' social representations and expectations of the FL taught in their course programmes; to analyze the course syllabi, and to reshape the didactic proposals. Based on a mixed–methods approach, we employed a survey technique with both closed and open–ended questions, covering a sample of 120 undergraduate students, complemented by a focus group and an analysis of the course syllabi (2018–2023). Among the preliminary findings, we highlight the predominance of an instrumentalist perspective of FL —with very little connection to culture— a tendency to associate French with emotional aspects and English with economic factors; the undervaluation of what was learned in secondary school; and the strong association between knowing a language and being able to speak it. Este artículo presenta los primeros resultados de una investigación en curso sobre las representaciones sociales del estudiantado de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Educación de la Universidad Nacional de Entre Ríos (UNER) en relación con las lenguas extranjeras (LE), que surge ante la necesidad de indagar en su perfil, sus representaciones sociales y expectativas sobre el aprendizaje de idiomas en el ámbito universitario, frente a los cambios socio–históricos actuales. Los objetivos principales son relevar, analizar y comparar las representaciones sociales y expectativas de estudiantes sobre las LE enseñadas en sus carreras; analizar los programas de cátedra y reconfigurar las propuestas didácticas. Basándonos en una metodología cuali–cuantitativa, utilizamos la técnica de encuesta con preguntas cerradas y abiertas sobre un universo de 120 estudiantes de grado, complementada con un grupo focal y el análisis de los programas de cátedras (2018–2023). Entre los resultados preliminares destacamos: el predominio de una concepción instrumentalista de la LE —escasísima vinculación con la cultura—; una vinculación con aspectos afectivos en el francés y económicos en inglés; la subestimación de lo aprendido en la secundaria; y la fuerte asociación entre saber un idioma y poder hablarlo.
