Many studies in the field of education have reflected on the importance of imagination in the learning process. Considering the interest of surveying the portion of these studies that think about the theme of imagination from the specific interests of teaching and learning history, a bibliographical review of the literature was carried out in this article. We sought to verify what has been produced and what are the gaps in the scientific literature on the theme of imagination in the teaching-learning of history. The identified works allow us to perceive that the references that address the theme of imagination in the teaching-learning of history are scarce and are based on old references, but unanimous in defending the importance of this mental ability in the individual's relationship with historical knowledge. It was also noted the need to develop new studies that propose to contribute to the distinction between imagination in the broad sense and historical imagination.

Muitos estudos no âmbito da educação têm refletido sobre a importância da imaginação no processo do aprendizado. Considerando o interesse de levantar a parcela desses estudos que pensam o tema da imaginação a partir dos interesses específicos do ensino-aprendizagem de história, realizou-se no presente artigo, uma revisão bibliográfica de literatura. Buscou-se verificar o que tem sido produzido e quais as lacunas na literatura científica sobre o tema da imaginação no ensino-aprendizagem de história. Os trabalhos identificados permitem perceber que as referências que abordam o tema da imaginação no ensino-aprendizagem de história são escassas e sustentam-se em referenciais antigos, mas unânimes em defender a importância dessa habilidade mental na relação do indivíduo com o conhecimento histórico. Constatou-se também, a necessidade da elaboração de novos estudos que se proponham a contribuir para a distinção entre imaginação no sentido amplo e imaginação histórica. Numerosos estudios en el campo de la educación han reflexionado sobre la importancia de la imaginación en el proceso de aprendizaje. Considerando el interés de relevar la porción de estos estudios que piensan el tema de la imaginación a partir de los intereses específicos de la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de la historia, se realizó en este artículo una revisión bibliográfica de la literatura. Se buscó verificar qué se ha producido y cuáles son los vacíos en la literatura científica sobre el tema de la imaginación en la enseñanza y aprendizaje de la historia. Los trabajos identificados permiten percibir que las referencias que abordan el tema de la imaginación en la enseñanza y aprendizaje de la historia son escasas y se basan en referentes antiguos, pero son unánimes en defender la importancia de esta habilidad mental en la relación del individuo con el conocimiento histórico. También se constató la necesidad de elaborar nuevos estudios que se propongan contribuir a la distinción entre imaginación en sentido amplio e imaginación histórica.
