In order to limit the unit of analysis, four working-class housing neighborhoods were selected taking into account their origin associated with the construction industries of the Port of La Plata, the refrigerators and the YPF distillation plant. The result of the analysis was raised on two scales, the first describing the relationship of each neighborhood with the port, urban and industrial territory, and the second describing the logic of internal relationships within the neighborhoods. The growth logic of the port responds to that of the global economy, while neighborhood growth depends on the local economy, increasing that port and city have dynamics that tend to autonomy. Los puertos son localizaciones favorables para numerosas industrias. Los cambios en estas industrias y en la logística de cargas portuarias se reflejan en los modos de construir y habitar las ciudades. Este trabajo apunta a reflexionar sobre el proceso de urbanización del espacio del puerto en su interacción con la ciudad en su hinterland, considerando  cuatro momentos diferenciados. A fines de acotar la unidad de análisis, se seleccionaron cuatro barrios de vivienda obrera teniendo en cuenta su origen asociado a las industrias de la construcción del Puerto de La Plata, de los frigoríficos y de la planta destiladora de YPF. El resultado del análisis se planteó en dos escalas, la primera describiendo la relación de cada barrio con el territorio portuario, urbano e industrial, y la segunda describiendo la lógica de relaciones internas dentro de los barrios. La lógica de crecimiento del puerto responde a la de la economía global, mientras que el crecimiento barrial depende de la economía local, generando que puerto y ciudad tengan dinámicas que tienden a la autonomía.
