This paper aims (i.) to clarify the previous distinction and (ii.) to establish if Kierkegaard´s authentic self is congruent with an androgynous selfhood.  En La enfermedad mortal Kierkegaard traza una distinción fundamental entre dos formas de desesperación consciente en términos de categorías sexuales: la «desesperación femenina» o desesperación debilidad (no querer ser sí mismo) y la «desesperación masculina» o desesperación desafío (querer ser sí mismo). El presente artículo se propone (i.) clarificar qué significa esta distinción y (ii.) establecer si la fórmula que, de acuerdo con Kierkegaard, describe el sí mismo auténtico es congruente con una personalidad andrógina.
