After establishing the potencial and limits of school biography as an analytical instance, the article considers those developments of pedagogical knowledge that invite us to think about education from the power that the term has in some traditions of thought, and which they find as a reference to the Bildung in the German tradition. Without ignoring the educational potential of the school, these developments find in the Bildung, as a process of transformation through experience, other plausible ways to broaden the perspective on what leads to teaching practice offering specific features. Finally it is investigated about the implications that for the teaching of the arts may have incorporating as a potential formative instance those experiences linked to art that we have been going through throughout our lives. El presente artículo parte de señalar la centralidad de la biografía escolar como una de las categorías desde las que se vertebra el análisis de los procesos formativos. Luego de establecer potencias y límites de esta categoría desde la perspectiva analítica, se invita a pensar la formación desde la potencia que este término tiene en algunas tradiciones del pensamiento pedagógico, y que encuentra como referencia a la Bildung en la tradición alemana. Sin desconocer el potencial formativo de lo escolar, se despliega lo que estos desarrollos encuentran en la Bildung, como proceso de transformación por vías de la experiencia, atendiendo otros posibles caminos plausibles de ampliar la perspectiva sobre aquello que conlleva a que la práctica docente ofrezca unos rasgos específicos, especialmente en la enseñanza de disciplinas artísticas. Y en esta línea, finalmente se indaga sobre las implicancias que para la enseñanza de las artes puede tener incorporar como potencial instancia formativa aquellas experiencias ligadas a los vínculos con el arte.
